Jans and Marjan: From Schoonoord to Tenerife

Jans and Marjan lived for many years in Schoonoord, a village in Drenthe. There they had owned two cafes: first café The Wizard, later café De Haven. They were familiar faces in the village and their café was a regular place for many people.

During vacations, they often went to Tenerife. The island attracted them - especially the climate and the relaxed life there. At some point they thought: why do we keep doing this only during the vacations? We might as well try it for longer periods of time.

They decided to sell their café in the Netherlands and take the plunge. Everything arranged, suitcases packed, and off to Tenerife. There they took over a café on the boulevard, where mostly tourists and Dutch expats come.

Jans is usually behind the bar, Marjan does a lot of serving and likes to chat with the guests. The atmosphere is cozy, the work is familiar, only the location is different.

No regrets. They are doing what they love, in a place they love to be.
